Kenneth Rogers has a busy practice in civil actions for police misconduct, civil fraud (breach of trust, undue influence and misrepresentation) and crime.

He successfully acts for Claimants against police forces in the Midlands and across the country on a range of cases encompassing false imprisonment, malicious prosecution, assault and negligence and has appeared in numerous High Court cases where fraud, unconscionable conduct and breach of trust is in issue and is regularly instructed in criminal cases both in the Crown court and magistrates where he has expertise in defending Revenue/Customs and Tax credit/benefit prosecutions including Customs and Excise Management Act crime and confiscation proceedings.

His public law work touches on all parts of his practice, including Revenue/crime based judicial review, and actions against the police.

Prior to coming to the Bar Ken spent several years in industry working with and for solicitors in contentious litigation (including corporate and professional fraud) and was also involved in a number of law centre/CAB cases.

He has maintained a strong sense of justice, appearing in cases where the rights of the individual and public authorities (customs/banks/insurers/police) are in issue and from time to time accepts pro bono instruction where injustice is in issue. Ken is a favourite with many solicitors because of his down-to-earth, capable and responsive approach.

He has experience in applications to the European Court of Human Rights and his reported civil work includes cases on constructive notice: Lloyds TSB Bank Plc v Holdgate [2002] EWCA Civ 1543; [2002] 43 EG 203; [2003] HLR 25. [2002] All ER (D) 179;

Notable cases include: R v Salder (Life sentence appropriate parole date) [2004] EWCA Crim. 86; Downes v Commissioners of Customs and Excise: (confiscation) [2004] EWHC 2022 and also appeared as joint counsel in Haven Health Care v York (Inspector of Taxes) [2005] EWHC 2212.
