Background

Ann was called to the Bar in 2004 as a late entrant, having worked as a consultant in development education for a number of years. Ann specialised in evaluation advice and strategic planning for development education organisations such as the Department for International Development (DFID), the Development Education Association, (DEA) CAFOD, Christian Aid, British Council, Link Community Development and the Children and Youth Partnership Foundation.

Ann was a Research Fellow at the Faculty of Education, University of Manchester. She has been invited to lecture at conferences in England, Ireland, Greece, Mexico and Canada and has presented research findings to a range of audiences and organisations such as management boards, educational practitioners and government departments (including the Department of International Development, the Department of Education, the Canadian International Development Agency and the National Committee for Development Education in Ireland.) Projects included: à Advisor to DFID on North- South School Linking Programmes à Co-ordinator of the DFID strategy on Enabling Effective support for development education, and advisor to the regional networks à Design and delivery of a training programme for Higher Education Links Co-ordinators in Lusaka, Zambia à A major survey of development and human rights education for the Development Education Commission (chaired by Professor Kevin Boyle, it brought together senior educational and human rights specialists.) à Co-ordinator of 2 national projects for the Development Education Association, 1997-1998 and 1999-2001; Assessing evaluation trends in development education, and the development of indicators and impact assessment in development education
